Event of Municipal Significance Designation for AGCO Public Event Special Occasion Permit

Event of Municipal Significance Designation Requests:

Requests for an event of municipal significance designation are made in order to obtain eligibility for a Public Event Special Occasion Permit from AGCO that would allow for the sale of alcohol at an event and allow the organizer to:

  • Profit from the sale of alcohol, and

  • Advertise the event publicly

Does the Event Require a Municipal Significance Designation:

Events conducted by:

  • a charitable organization registered under the Income Tax Act (Canada), or

  • a non-profit association or organization for the advancement of charitiable, educational, religious or community objects

typically do not require an event of municipal significance designation in order to obtain a Public Event Special Occasion Permit from AGCO.

 

If your organization is described above, contact AGCO to determine if you require an event of municipal significance designation, in order to obtain a Public Event Special Occasion Permit from AGCO.

Municipal Significance Designation is Required:

If AGCO has advised that you require an event of municipal significance designation in order to be eligible to obtain a Public Event Special Occasion Permit, complete the following steps in order to file this application:

  1. Complete this application.
  2. Submit the $100.00 application fee.
  3. Additional information may be required to enable consideration of the application.

**All information and materials submitted for the application shall be made available to the public.**

 **Note: Complete Applications, including application fee, must be received a minimum of 60 days prior to the event. 

Eligibility Criteria:

The following will be considered when an event of municipal significance designation is requested:

  1. The event is being held in Trent Hills and is open to the general public.
  2. The event will host no less than 100 members of the general public.
  3. The event can be defined as:
    1. Having local, regional, national or international historical or cultural significance; or
    2. Building awareness of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; or
    3. Benefitting the community at-large.

An event must meet the criteria in #1 and #2, as well as at least one of the criteria in #3.

By submitting the Event of Municipal Significance Designation Request Application, you are agreeing:

  1. To indemnify and save harmless The Corporation of the Municipality of Trent Hills from any and all liabilities, damages, costs, claims, suits or actions arising out of the Municipal Significance Designation.
  2. To provide all required documentation within specified timeframes.
  3. To the Municipality of Trent Hills making this application and its supporting documentation available as a public record.

Notice of Collection: Personal information contained on this form is collected pursuant to the Municipal Act, 2001 and the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and will be used for the purpose of considering the Application and creating a public record.  Submission of the Application acknowledges that "personal information [is] collected and maintained specifically for the purpose of creating a record available to the general public" per Section 14(1)(c) of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.  Enquiries regarding the collection of this information may be directed to the Office of the Clerk, Municipality of Trent Hills, 66 Front Street South, P.O.
